Pay 0% VAT on Battery Storage

Have you heard about the UK Government’s decision to scrap VAT on all battery storage systems from 1 Feb 2024?

You can now save 20% on all batteries!

OHM Energy were asked to sit on the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) Battery Storage Industry Working group due to our extensive experience of the technology. Now that VAT has been scrapped, we want to enable more of our customers to benefit from the top-tier energy technology.

How does battery storage work?

Rechargeable lithium-ion battery systems store energy for you. The system controls energy consumption, reduces your reliance on the grid, and enhances energy efficiency.

The battery is charged by solar during daylight hours when your panels produce more electricity than you consume. The battery then stores that energy until your home needs it, such as at nighttime when your panels are no longer producing power, or when there is an outage.

The sun recharges your battery the next day so you have more clean, renewable energy.

Can a battery work without solar?

Yes. A battery charges when electricity costs are low and discharges energy when electricity costs are high, saving you money. The battery also automatically becomes your home’s main power source when there is an outage and the grid is down.

Which batteries are available?
