Have you ever wanted your Growatt battery system to charge smarter? A Solution which can take into account your energy requirements, weather forecasts and your off-peak tariff? Well, look no further.
Wonder Watt has officially launched a smart charging solution for Growatt battery systems. A Smart and predictive charging solution for all Growatt users. (FINALLY!) With integration with other brands pending shortly too!
Who Are Wonder Watt?
Wonder Watt is a small startup company based in South Wales, that specialises in smart charging solutions for solar energy systems with battery storage. Founded by Wim, a software developer for over 25 years, and son-in-law James, an experienced solar systems engineer, Wonder Watt combines technical expertise with renewable energy and the passion to create innovative solutions.
What does Wonder Watt offer?
Wonder Watt offers an advanced smart charging app, that optimises the charging process for solar batteries. By leveraging its own in-house algorithm, Wonder Watt’s app intelligently forecasts solar yield based on weather predictions specific to your location. This ensures that charging occurs efficiently and maximises the utilisation of renewable energy.
Furthermore, it allows users to set smart discharge schedules to take advantage of high export tariffs. This feature also takes into account solar forecast and battery state of charge, so the user can optimise their export to the grid during peak times in an intelligent and dynamic way.
What was the inspiration behind the app?
The inspiration behind Wonder Watt’s service arose from the need for a more intelligent and sustainable charging solution. Most software is clunky and requires tinkering and continuous manual adjusting.
Wonder Watt recognised the opportunity to develop a smart charging and optimised grid-export solution that takes solar forecasts into account, optimising energy usage and reducing reliance on non-renewable sources.
What are the benefits of using Wonder Watt App for Smart Charging your Battery?
Using Wonder Watt brings numerous benefits to solar PV system owners.
- First and foremost, the app ensures that your battery is charged optimally based on solar availability, avoiding unnecessary charging during off-peak rates. This reduces costs and minimises reliance on the grid.
- It also will dynamically adjust the battery’s charge rate, so it uses the full off-peak window. This improves battery longevity.
- Additionally, Wonder Watt allows users to schedule forced discharge during peak demand and high export tariff rates, further maximising financial returns on solar investments. Having these dynamic schedules means that the user can be very much hands-off and let Wonder Watt do the magic for them!
What is the future/overall goal for Wonder Watt?
Wonder Watt has ambitious plans for the future. Currently, the app supports Growatt hybrid inverters, and they are actively working to integrate other popular inverter brands, and have just launched support for GivEnergy systems too.
Other items on the to-do list for the start-up, is other conditional weather forecast inputs like temperature (useful during winter for users with a heat pump) and adding support for Octopus Agile tariffs.
The aim is to really listen to user feedback and adapt, change and improve all the time.
How do users sign up for this smart charging solution?
If you are looking for a smart way to charge your solar batteries, then it’s a no-brainer. Signing up for Wonder Watt is simple and convenient. Visit their app dashboard at https://app.wonderwatt.com where you can log in with a Google account. The app is currently in beta-testing, and all new users will receive an Amazon voucher for participating!
